I got back from the band trip today at about 3:30. It was so fun, and I had an awesome time!! Here's a brief synopsis of what happened:
Friday- I showed up at MHS with 7-11 coffee in hand (gotta have something to wake me up) and left with the band. The bus ride was long but not too incredibly boring. We watched "Drumline", and I really like that movie so it made the trip all the more better. When we got to San Antonio, we went straight to the Municipal Center to perform for some judges. We didn't even go to the hotel to drop off our luggage, which was very strange I thought. I had to change into my band uniform on the bus, which really sucks because it was hot and crowded and not fun. Our performance went alright. We didn't blow the judges away but we didn't totally suck either. I only had to play on one song, and my part was really easy. I didn't have much to worry about. After all our bands performed, we went to the hotel, checked into our rooms, and ate pizza. Getting the pizza was a strange experience but I won't go into that now.
Saturday- Fiesta Texas! This was really fun, mainly because I got to see Robby. The Plano East bands were there on the same day as us. Woohoo! Even though he likes roller coasters and I don't, we still managed to hang out almost all day. I rode this awesome ride called Chaos with him...it's hard to explain. There's a lot of upside-downess that goes on and it's great. Robby was dizzy when we got off and he almost knocked me over when he fell into me. Quite the fun time. We ate lunch at this really crowded place, but because I had a meal voucher I got the food for free so it was okay. Some girls from Robby's colorguard were in the line next to ours, and then kept staring at us. It was weird. I was hugging him and they were staring at me so I just stared right back. I thought they hated me, but I don't know why. Maybe they like Robby...? Later they asked if we had just met that day. Obviously, we didn't. I could feel the hate. Oh well. Not like I care.
That same day, we went to an awards ceremony to pick up some cool trophies for the stuff we played on Friday. Each of our bands won at least something. Mark and Andrew got certificates for being outstanding players. I want one!! But then again, I don't think I would get recognized for being a great bell player, since I didn't play that much and all.
Sunday- Sea World day. Not much happened. It wasn't really that exciting. I shopped for some of my friends and saw some of the shows. They all were pretty bad except for the sea lion one, which was amusing. And then I fed some fish to the sea lions which was quite amusing. Those fish are downright nasty looking. I spent a lot of the day with pit people at the water park part of Sea World. The water felt really good but whenever I would get out, I froze. And then in the wave pool I had an incident where I almost lost my bathing suit top, and that would have been bad.
Afterwards we went to Hard Rock Cafe, which was really fun. I wished Robby was there so much...we were up on the chairs dancing and singing really loudly and being idiots. Sunday was also Mr. Weisberg and Mike's birthdays, so we got to scream and cheer at them for a few minutes. I took a couple pictures of them standing on top of a staircase looking really awkward, with the band sitting at tables below looking up. Sounds really weird, I know. Just trust me on this one, it was fun.
Monday- Today! I came home. Did some homework. Got my pictures developed. Did more homework. Here I am!
More tomorrow!
